Esbjerg Art Museum - modern and contemporary art
Different museum of modern and contemporary art, known to act as an experimentarium where children and adults can have surprising experiences.
Esbjerg - the city by the sea - is the perfect place for large-scale and unique art. Art is everywhere in Esbjerg - at the art museum, in the cityshape and down by the water's edge.
There is plenty of opportunity to see highquality art in Esbjerg. At the Academy of Music you can see Thorbjørn Lausten’s The Clock, which combines image and sound in a rigorous composition. Close to the square lies the tiny Heerup Garden, with a score of small granite sculptures by the well-loved artist Henry Heerup, who belonged to the COBRA group. In front of Esbjerg Art Museum stands Robert Jacobsen’s newly renovated iron sculpture Esbjerg. At UC Syddanmark you will find Erik Hagen’s modern interpretation of the Bible The Gospel of Esbjerg, a 140 m2 large wall-painting.
The major Danish sculptor Robert Jacobsen is the man behind the altar mural in Hjerting Church. The figures are made of old scrap iron from Esbjerg Harbour in places covered with gold. In Hjerting Strandpark you will find the strangely beautiful sculpture I am your yesterday - and you are my tomorrow by the internationally recognised Portuguese artist Rui Chafes.
