Meet Karl Emil from Fanø

Farthest to the west, where the roar of the North Sea meets the dunes of Fanø, you will find Lighthouse Burgers, which is more than just a burger joint - it is proof that good ideas come to life when passion and courage go hand in hand.

A dream came true

What started as a summer project in 2019 in a former butcher shop at Rindby Strand quickly turned into something bigger.

Karl Emil Halkjær, Rasmus Fischer and Karl Moth wanted to create a unique place where both guests and employees felt at home - and of course make a fantastic burger.

A great love for food and a dream of creating something special on Fanø.

We wanted a place with a local atmosphere, presence and service. A place where people come for the food experience and for the atmosphere, says Karl Emil Halkjær.

What is worth doing is worth doing well.

Gastronomy at a high level

The dream grew, and today Lighthouse Burgers has developed into a part of Fanø's gastronomic scene. With 25 employees in the high season and a focus on quality, the burgers are not just burgers – they have become an experience.

The ingredients are local and carefully selected. We use organic, freshly ground beef from Varde Ådal, and we have spent many hours on each ingredient. Because what is worth doing is worth doing well, says Karl Emil.

But a good burger is not just about taste - it is about atmosphere, about creating a space where everyone feels welcome. It is precisely this spirit that has made Lighthouse Burgers more than just a restaurant.

We want to grow, but not at any cost. It's about maintaining the closeness that makes us special.

Community and joy for food go hand in hand

Fanø is the heart of Lighthouse Burgers, but the ambitions go further. With their latest expansion at Fanø Bryghus, they are taking another step towards their grand vision: To create burger experiences in more places without losing the personal touch.

We want to grow, but not at any cost. It's about maintaining the closeness that makes us special - both in the kitchen and in the way we meet our guests, explains Karl Emil.

The new branch will be a gathering point for good burgers, beer from Fanø Bryghus and an atmosphere that is buzzing with life. And even though they are expanding, the essence is the same:

We show the way. Not just to the good burger, but to a place where there is room for everyone. Where community and joy for food go hand in hand.

With a vision, local commitment and a passion for quality, Lighthouse Burgers has become a major player on Fanø - and who knows? Maybe it won't only be by the Wadden Sea that you can enjoy Lighthouse Burgers in the future.
